About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):
Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet. Similar to Etched Carnelian, they are designed by baking natural dyes onto agate. Believed to be crafted between the 1st and 6th centuries AD, the composition of the dyes remains a mystery, making these beads one of the enigmatic antique treasures. Primarily found in Tibet, they are also discovered in regions like Bhutan and Ladakh in the Himalayas. The distinct patterns hold various meanings, with the "eye" designs being highly coveted for their excellent condition. In Tibet, they are considered amulets of wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations as cherished adornments. Recently, their popularity has surged in China under the name "Tian Zhu," with numerous replicas produced using similar techniques. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads are extremely rare and valued.
